Which seed requires which type of seed treatment? – A Guide for Farmers

Proper seed treatment is the first step toward a successful harvest. It improves germination, protects against diseases, and boosts overall yield. Here’s a crop-wise guide for effective seed treatment.

1. For Soybean

Essential Treatments:

• Insecticide:

  • Rihansh (Thiamethoxam 30% FS)

  • Dosage: 4 ml per kg of seed

  • Purpose: Protects against sucking pests, stem borers, and weather-related stress.

• Fungicide:

  • Jormet

  • Alternative: Vitavax Ultra

  • Dosage: 3 ml per kg

  • Purpose: Prevents root rot, damping-off, and wilt.

Optional but Beneficial Additions:

• NPK Boost DX:

  • Dosage: 5 g per kg

  • Benefit: Boosts early-stage nutrition and growth.
     

• Raiser:

  • Dosage: 5 ml per kg (instead of water)

  • Benefit: Enhances root development and nutrient absorption.

At minimum, use Rihansh + Jormet. Adding NPK Boost DX and Raiser further strengthens the crop.

2. For Pigeon Pea (Tur/Arhar)

• Bio-Fungicide:

  • Trichoboost DX (Trichoderma viride-based)

  • Highly water-soluble with high spore count for quick action.

Application:

• If seeds are from the Booster company:

  • 10 g Trichoboost DX + 10 ml water = for 1 kg of seed
     

• If seeds are home-saved or from local suppliers:

  • 20 g Trichoboost DX per kg

Extremely effective for managing root rot and fungal diseases.

Apply Trichoboost DX in the soil again during July for continued protection.

3. For Cotton and Maize

• These seeds are already treated by Booster or reputed companies.
  Do not re-treat them.
