Cotton Crop Revival and Fertilizer Management

Introduction

Dear Farmers,
This year, due to excessive rainfall and continuous changes in weather, many cotton crops have been severely affected. In some areas, fertilizers have been washed away, while in others, the nutrients in the soil have become inactive. As a result, boll formation has decreased, leaves have dropped, and pest and disease attacks have increased.

Current Situation

  • Due to heavy rains, the soil has lost its nutrient balance.

  • Cotton growth has slowed down, and the number and size of bolls have reduced.

  • Many farmers cannot switch to new crops, making it essential to revive the existing cotton plants.

Revival Measures

1. Fertilizer Management

To rejuvenate cotton effectively, use the following fertilizers:

  • 20:20:0:13 fertilizer — Half a bag (approximately 20 kg)

  • Potash — 20 kg per acre

  • Magnesium Sulphate — 5 kg per acre

➡️ Mix these fertilizers into the soil.
If soil application is not possible, prepare a solution and apply through drenching in two stages.

2. Nutrient Supply

Balanced nutrient management is crucial for reviving cotton.

  • Maintain NPK balance using 20:20:0:13 or 24:24:0:8 fertilizers.

  • Potash and magnesium are essential for improving crop nutrition.

  • While drenching, include Big B (5 kg per acre) to enhance plant growth and recovery.

Conclusion

Cotton revival is not possible without proper fertilizer management.
Applying the right quantity of fertilizers, maintaining nutrient balance, and ensuring timely drenching helps restore plant health and improve boll formation.
By following this planned approach, farmers can successfully recover damaged cotton fields and boost productivity.
