This article is based on the Q&A session conducted by Gajanan Jadhao of White Gold Trust on September 7, 2026. It discusses the challenges crops are facing due to the current weather changes and the necessary remedial measures to protect them.
1. Weather Forecast:

There is no chance of heavy rainfall in the state until September 12 (Saturday); only light, localized rain may occur depending on local conditions.

Weather changes and increased rainfall are expected after the 12th. An accurate forecast will be provided via video on the 10th (Pola festival).
2. Soybean Crop Issues & Solutions:

Yellowing of Lower Leaves: There are 4 main reasons for this: water stress, lack of sunlight reaching the bottom leaves due to dense sowing, stem borer infestation (which blocks nutrient supply), and Nitrogen deficiency.

Stem Borer Infestation: A severe outbreak has occurred due to the dry spell. While there is no direct cure at this stage, spraying water-soluble fertilizers like 13:0:45 will aid in proper pod filling.

Flower & Pod Drop: The primary cause is the stem borer. The larvae hollow out the stem, blocking essential nutrients from reaching the top. Water stress can also be a reason for pod drop and shriveled grains.

Yellow Mosaic & Boron Deficiency: To treat Boron deficiency, spray 20% Boron (20-25 gm per spray pump). Completely uproot and discard plants affected by Yellow Mosaic. To control the whitefly that spreads this virus, spray 'Acetamiprid', or use 'Odachi Extra' to destroy both eggs and adult flies.

Weed Control (Creeper Weeds): If creeper weeds (Aadarvel) have overgrown, wait until the pods are fully mature (just before harvesting) and apply two sprays of Pendimethalin at an 8-day interval to control them.
3. Other Crops & Fertilizer Management:

Pigeon Pea (Tur): If the leaves look partially burnt or scorched, spray a fungicide like 'Nazo Super'.

Sugarcane: Applying NPK alongside bio-fertilizers (PBD, KDB) reduces chemical fertilizer costs and benefits the crop.

Drip Fertigation: It is highly recommended to dissolve fertilizers (e.g., 20:20:0:13, 24:24:0, or 21:0:0) in water and apply them through drip irrigation.

Maize: The upcoming rains will definitely be beneficial for the maize crop.
